Where do my donations go?

MEEC provides links directly to the Democratic Party in each County. You can find a "donation" section or button with a link on each county's page that will take you directly to that county's donation process. All donations go directly to them, not us.

 

How does MECC fund its operations?

Our "Contribute" button allows you to support our efforts. **We are NOT a 501 (c). Your donations are NOT tax-deductible. Donations go towards marketing and overhead.

 

How to Choose Where to Give 

 

1. Data Sources & Tracking Swing States  

Please note: we left out third parties so the totals do not add up to 100%

Our data is sourced from the [Wiki 2024 presidential election results](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2024_United_States_presidential_election#Results). For specific county results, we used *"Wiki 2024 presidential election results in state (name)"*.

To decide which state to focus on, consider these factors:

 We have put together a database of 10 states where the results were the closest, percentage-wise, in 2024, in descending order.

Some states were more reliably red or blue in the past, but others may be in play due to current factors such as immigration raids or economic conditions. You may live in one of these states or have a personal connection. The choice is yours.

2. Deciding Which County to Support

Your choice depends on your specific goals:

For statewide/national races: If you are thinking of a presidential election, governorship, or a US Senate seat, look at how close the last election was and/or how many total voters there are in each county.

For party development: You might choose a county that already has a well-established structure, website, and social media presence—or target one that is barely off the ground and needs basic infrastructure.

 

 3. Helping in Off-Year or Special Elections

If a candidate is running for the US House of Representatives, they may encompass voters from multiple counties. To find out which counties to support:

1. Go to this [Wikipedia list of US congressional districts](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_congressional_districts).

2. Navigate to the specific state and district they are running in.

3. The exact counties included in that district are typically named in the very first paragraph of the page.

 

Donation Strategy & Alternative Giving

 

County Parties vs. The DNC & Candidates

Does this mean I should not donate to the DNC, state organizations, or candidates directly?

 Not necessarily. You may want to split your donations, or donate purely to the county/counties you chose. Remember, candidates will raise funds directly and receive help from the DNC and state parties. However, the local county party relies heavily on independent resources to do the boots-on-the-ground work alongside those campaigns.

 

Giving Frequency: Lump Sum vs. Monthly

You can contact the county directly to see what they prefer. However, **making small, monthly donations** is often best so the county is supported year-round, not just once every 4 years.

 

What if my funds are limited?

If you want to help but don't have the financial means, you can still make a massive impact:
