ARIZONA

In the 2024 U.S. presidential election, Arizona reverted to Republican control when Donald Trump captured the state’s 11 electoral votes, defeating Democrat Kamala Harris with about 52.2% to 46.7% of the vote.

This margin of victory (~5.5 points) was the largest for a Republican in Arizona since 2012 and marked the first time in over a decade that a presidential candidate won the state with an outright majority.

Voter turnout, however, declined slightly from 2020, reaching about 57.6% of the eligible electorate.  Arizona represents a significant opportunity for grassroots funding for canvassing efforts register voters and get the vote out.

One notable dynamic in the state was ticket-splitting: despite Trump’s win, Arizona voters elected Democrat Ruben Gallego to the U.S. Senate, making him the state’s first Latino senator.

Overall, the result underscored Arizona’s continued status as a dynamic battleground, with competitive outcomes even within the same ballot across offices.
